Not many of us get to witness or experience triumphs in sports or be part of the mayhem. Saturday august 18th we got to see and feel history being made. This wasn’t just a national sport say Football, Baseball, Basketball. This was thee definitive competition of the world. Today we witnessed Michael Phelps reach the ultimate Plato of winning 8 gold medals from the 8 races he participated in. The 8th one was the hardest to watch because you knew what was at stake. None of the races came easy as he won a few of them by a finger tip.

As close as those races where he won them. 8 races, 7 new world records, 8 gold medals. The greatest Olympian in the history of modern times.

Michael Phelps achievement already considered the best milestone accomplished in modern Olympic and modern sports. bravo Mr.Phelps and thank you for the memory and the moment. If you didn’t get to see this mans races feel free to Youtube his performances.

Lets talk about Manny Mania…

Posted on

I’ve been following the guy since he made his debut with the Cleveland Indians. Storing this mans high school baseball cards in safe places since then. Bronx native Manny Ramirez has become one of the greatest hitting RIght handed hitters of all-time.  A life time .313 batting average, 500+ home run club, and 1600+ RBI and counting. A crucial part to the success of Boston’s dominance in my eyes. OK I would think this part can be accepted by everyone. Now there’s another side of him. The lackluster effort, the no hustle running down the line. His expertise in the outfield. I mean who else can make a diving play cutting off a relay throw. What other player has made a Willie Mays catch, climbed the wall gave a fan a high five turned around and doubled off a man at first base all in one play. On the down side they say he ruined his team or was a poor team member or player.  This is my grudge with the Boston organization. Everyone they had a problem with got traded or portrayed to be the bad guy. Coincidence Manny, Garciapara, Pedro ? All Spanish to huh? I honestly don’t think Big Papi will be happy to much longer in Boston. That’s not rumored or leaked. It’s just a gut feeling. I won’t deny that Manny is far from an angel. Does he look like he is putting in a 100 percent all of the time? No. In LA has he picked up the slack? YES. It’s contract time. Anyone would. The bad name the executives are placing on Manny is ridiculous. How many of them called out Roger Clemens with his tirade’s in Houston? Retired from the Yankees to escape a contract and end up in Houston. Then taking it upon himself to not travel and only pitch home games. RIGHT. As I write this I am not sure who to blame our ignorant players as time goes on. Baseball and it’s cowardly approach to dealing with players. I mean come on did it really take the US government to deal with the steroid issue. There’s so many ways to view Manny’s situation. You can blame baseball and how it is run. You can blame Manny for seeking attention? or Boston for treating its players like crap. Renteria didn’t last to long with them either. Who knows. We will see what happens. Manny wants 4 years 100 mill. He can put up the numbers. Why i don’t understand why they say he is lackluster when he produces. If you have a problem with his fielding put him as a DH? Executives are split on Manny. Some say he doesn’t deserve the 100 mill for 4 years because you never know what Manny your getting. Some say he deserves the money but not for 4 years. He might get half that for 2. The major Gm’s just don’t want to take the chance with him the smaller franchises can’t afford him. So this off season will be fun to watch. Manny said he would love to retire in LA. Then he said he wants the Yankees to sign him. So adding to that confusion I’d say that’s some Organized kuhnfyoozhuhn all on its own. =)
